Barbera is the grape variety which more symbolizes Piedmont people: rugged and stubborn, strong and silent. It is a popular wine, symbol of everyday life, and the dominant drinking wine in the territory of Asti It is here that blew up what many called “the miracle” Barbera d’Asti, but it’s not a miracle at all, being merely the finnally deserved success of a product of great value. It is produced with barbera grapes, situated in the sunny vineyards of Cisterna d’Asti. It takes his name from our grandmother “Vica”, which dedicated all her life to the vineyards.
Grape variety: 100% Barbera.
Geographical location: Cisterna (AT) Piedmont, Italy
Vineyard characteristics: Well-exposed and hilly vineyards of variable age. The soil is sandy. The vines are cultivated with the Guyot system.
Vinification: De-stemming and crushing of the manually harvested and perfectly ripe grapes. Fermentation with maceration on the skins for 10-12 days. Racking and immediate control of the malolactic fermentation.
Maturation and aging: Fined in steel tanks and vitrified cement for 6-8 months and finally bottled.
Organoleptic characteristics: Bright ruby red colour since his young, with an intense vinous and characteristic fragrance; dry and full flavour with marked acidity
Served at 18°C.
Accompaniments: Suitable for white and red meat, pork and even wild game; perfect with medium-aged cheeses.
